Meet the FUSE Team

Dr. Lisa MacFadden is the President and Co-Founder of FUSE. She is a passionate advocate for hands-on learning and mentorship, she is committed to breaking barriers in STEM education and building a future-ready STEM workforce. Dr. MacFadden is a globally recognized biomedical engineer and leader in biomechanics. She serves as the Director of Biomechanics at the University of South Dakota (USD) and holds faculty positions in Biomedical Engineering and the Sanford School of Medicine. With expertise in musculoskeletal biomechanics, sports performance, medical devices, and biosensors, she applies 3D printing, mixed reality, artificial intelligence, and machine learning to advance both research and education.

In addition to her role with FUSE, Dr. MacFadden is a leader in national and international STEM outreach efforts. She is the President of The Biomechanics Initiative, which leads National Biomechanics Day, a worldwide event introducing high school students to biomechanics. She also serves as President and Founder of the 3D Printing in Medical Education and Innovative Care Society (3D MEDICS), Secretary of the American Society of Biomechanics, and Secretary of the Orthopedic Research Society Clinical Research Section.

She earned her B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Rochester and her M.S. and Ph.D. in Bioengineering from the University of Utah. Prior to USD, she led engineering programs at Sanford Health and L-3 Communications (now L-3 Harris). Through her leadership, Dr. MacFadden continues to drive innovation in STEM education, biomechanics, and engineering, ensuring that the next generation has the knowledge, skills, and mentorship to excel in science and technology.

Brogan Landeen is the Project Manager and Co-Founder of FUSE, where she combines her passion for technology and discovery. Brogan earned her BS and MS in Biomedical Engineering (BME) with a focus on 3D prosthetic design and development from the University of South Dakota. 

 

She is dedicated to developing innovative solutions that enhance patient outcomes and quality of life through her work at the Sioux Falls Gear Center. Her strong leadership skills and technical expertise make her an invaluable asset to the team, driving projects forward with creativity and precision. Brogan looks forward to making a significant impact in the field of biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering, and modern cutting-edge prosthetics and devices.
