At FUSE, we aim to ignite curiosity and create a supportive network for students in grades 4–12, inspiring them to explore exciting careers in science, technology, engineering, and STEM.

We invite parents to champion their child's interests by encouraging teachers to partner with us. Through interactive outreach in classrooms, we provide hands-on learning, inspiring mentors, and real-world applications that truly bring STEM to life. Together, we can empower the next generation of innovators and shape a brighter future for South Dakota kids!

At Ignite Your FUSE, we recognize that parents are vital partners in their child’s learning journey. Our approach is grounded in collaboration, mentorship, and accessibility, ensuring every student has the chance to explore STEM in meaningful ways.

The team delivers school-based outreach designed to:

  • Introduce students to exciting STEM fields and technologies.

  • Build confidence through hands-on discovery and teamwork.

  • Connect students with mentors and real-world career inspiration.

FUSE creators serve students in grades 4–12, tailoring our approach to meet the diverse learning needs of elementary, middle, and high school students. Through interactive school-based outreach, we introduce students to career pathways and hands-on applications in STEM, especially in emerging technology and biomedical fields.

Students explore topics like motion capture, 3D printing, and engineering design. The FUSE Team educators deliver activities that foster creativity, curiosity, and critical thinking, essential skills for success in today’s world.

Parents are encouraged to connect with their child’s school and recommend a FUSE visit, and reach out directly to learn how to support STEM learning beyond the classroom.

What Parents Can Do to Encourage STEM at Home

Talk about STEM topics and careers

  • Be curious together. Ask open-ended questions and explore answers as a team. Whether you're watching the stars or trying to figure out how something works, model curiosity and wonder.

Engage in hands-on activities and projects

  • Connect STEM to everyday life: point out the STEM behind baking (chemistry), budgeting (math), fixing things (engineering), and using apps or gadgets (technology). Real-world examples help kids see STEM all around them.

Explore free resources

  • Look for science kits, online coding games, DIY experiments, and local library or museum programs. Many free tools are available to make learning fun.

Encourage problem-solving

  • Let your child try, struggle a little, and figure things out. Celebrate persistence and creativity, not just getting the “right” answer.
